Fred Pries

Fred Pries is an Associate Professor Emeritus in the Department of Management at the University of Guelph, where he taught accounting, entrepreneurship, and innovation management. 

Before joining the academic community, Fred was a Partner in the Department of Professional Practice—Auditing and Accounting at KPMG Canada. He applied auditing, assurance, and independence standards, and he led policy development for 20 years. His work included audits of large and small entities in the manufacturing, construction, government, and not-for-profit sectors, and advising engagement teams on complex auditing, accounting, and special reporting issues.

Fred was a member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board from 2012 to 2018, and was the Board’s Vice-Chair from 2016 to 2018. 

Fred has a doctoral degree in management sciences from the University of Waterloo.
