The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) is pleased to announce the release of its Feedback Statement summarizing the responses received from its extensive public consultation on Canada’s first-ever sustainability disclosure standards. The CSSB announces a transition in its leadership. Charles-Antoine St-Jean is transitioning from his position as Chair. Bruce Marchand will be interim Chair.

Canada’s reporting and assurance oversight councils are pleased to announce the establishment of the Reporting & Assurance Standards Oversight Council (the Oversight Council), an important step towards enhancing standard-setting efficiency and connectivity in Canada.   

The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) Consultation Paper, Proposed Criteria for Modification Framework, is now open for comment. The Paper sets out how the Board proposes to introduce changes, if required, to IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards for use in Canada. Submit your comments to the CSSB by June 10, 2024

The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) will launch a public consultation to advance the adoption of sustainability standards in Canada. In March 2024, three key documents will be issued for public comment that will shape Canada's first sustainability standards: drafts of the proposed CSDS 1 and CSDS 2, and a paper discussing how the CSSB proposes to introduce changes to IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards for use in Canada. The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) grows in strength – with the appointment of three new members – and meets with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in Montreal on September 14-15, 2023. The CSSB’s newest members have been appointed, including representation from western and eastern provinces and Canada’s resource-based sectors. These appointments make a quorum for the CSSB, putting the Board in decision-making mode and coming on the heels of the release of the International Sustainability Standards Board’s (ISSB) initial standards – IFRS S1 and S2.

The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) published its Exposure Draft detailing a proposed methodology to amend Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards. The purpose of the amendments is to enhance the international applicability of the standards. FRAS Canada seeks Canadian feedback on the proposed methodology to ensure the ISSB considers Canadian perspectives.
