TORONTO, ON March 17, 2021 – The Auditing and Assurance Standards Oversight Council (AASOC) is pleased to announce it has approved the appointment of Bob Bosshard, CPA, CA, ICD.D, as the new chair of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AASB).
Bob will begin his three-year term as the AASB chair on July 1, 2021. He built his 40-year career with PwC in the U.K. and Canada, where he retired as a partner in 2016. Bob is a respected strategic leader and director with expertise in financial literacy, risk management, capital markets, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting. He brings significant experience working with Canadian and U.S. public companies, and a deep understanding of global business practices, IFRS® Standards, and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission requirements.
For the past 20 years, Bob has served as a highly engaged and valued director with a range of diverse boards. He currently chairs the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada’s Audit Committee.
“Bob is a skilled and effective collaborator and relationship builder who brings enthusiasm and a wealth of experience to the AASB. This will be critical as the Board embraces its strategic role to address the many changes taking hold in corporate reporting,” says Kevin Nye, AASOC chair. “We are living through a pivotal time and we believe Bob has the skills necessary to help the AASB navigate the way forward.”
Bob will be replacing the current AASB chair, Ken Charbonneau, FCPA, FCA, ICD.D.
“Ken led the AASB through the COVID-19 pandemic with empathy, resilience, and with stakeholder needs front and centre. He quickly pivoted the AASB’s work plan to lead the development of resources to help stakeholders address the auditing challenges presented by the pandemic,” says Nye. “He did this while overseeing the development of the AASB’s new Draft Strategic Plan, which will guide auditing and assurance standard setting through to 2025. Ken has done an exceptional job, and we thank him for his leadership.”
Bob will lead the AASB as it finalizes the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan, focusing on diversity, inclusion, and stakeholder feedback.
