Ida Chong

Ida Chong is a Director with the Rick Hansen Foundation serving on the Audit & Finance Committee, and on the Governance & Human Resources Committee. From 2013-2019, Ida was a member of the Board of Governors for the University of Victoria, where she was Chair of the Finance committee for two years.

In 2017, Ida served as director on the B.C. Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). She was senior partner in a local Victoria, BC-based accounting firm for several years before entering public life as an elected official.

Ida was elected for four consecutive terms (1996-2013) as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Province of BC representing the constituency of Oak Bay-Gordon Head (Greater Victoria region). During that time, Ida chaired and/or served on many cabinet and select standing committees (e.g., Public Accounts, Crown Corporations). In particular, she served for twelve continuous years (2001-2013) on the BC Government Treasury Board.

Ida received her Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 1981, her “fellow” designation in 2006, and in 2014, she was granted life membership.
