This summary of the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) meeting has been prepared for information purposes only. Decisions reported are tentative and reflect only the current status of discussions on projects, which might change after further deliberations by CSSB. On September 11-12, 2024, the CSSB met in person in Toronto, ON, for a total of 9 hours to continue deliberations on the feedback received during the Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standard (CSDS) 1, General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information; CSDS 2, Climate-related Disclosures; and Criteria for Modification Framework consultation.
CSDS 2: Scope 3
The CSSB discussed whether additional relief is required for reporting on Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions disclosures. The Board also discussed whether it should provide guidance on the GHG emissions measurement framework as a part of its three-year Strategic Plan.
Although the CSSB reached some preliminary consensus, it did not make any final decisions regarding Scope 3.
CSDS 1
The Board continued its deliberations from the July 30-August 1, 2024, meetings on the risks and merits for possible structural changes, to CSDS 1.

CSDS 1 and 2 and Criteria for Modification Framework Feedback Statements
The CSSB reviewed and provided another round of feedback on the updated draft Feedback Statements, which will provide a summary of all the responses, key trends, and themes in the feedback from the CSDS 1, CSDS 2, and Criteria for Modification Framework consultation. The Feedback Statements will provide context for the subsequent Basis of Conclusion documents that will outline the CSSB’s final decisions on the sustainability disclosure standards.
The Feedback Statements will be available by end of October 2024.
Basis of Conclusion outline
The CSSB reviewed and provided feedback on the structure and outline of the Basis of Conclusion document template.
The Basis for Conclusions document will be available by mid-December 2024.
