George Addy brings almost 40 years of foreign investment, regulatory and competition law expertise, and senior corporate executive strategic insight to business-critical matters – both in Canada and internationally. Before joining the Davies Law Firm to lead its Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment practice, George was head of the Canadian Competition Bureau (1989-1996) and an Executive Vice-President at TELUS (1996-2000). George oversaw broad functional responsibilities including law, human resources, administrative services, corporate compliance, and government and community relations. He provides strategic advice on matters involving domestic and foreign regulators, including cartels, mergers and acquisitions, trade practices, foreign investment law, telecom, broadcasting and the digital economy. He has appeared at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and has also appeared at judicial inquiries and regulatory hearings on behalf of private and public sector clients.
A frequent speaker, author and lecturer, George has also testified before various Senate and House of Commons committees, as well as hearings in the U.S., on a broad range of market and policy issues.
