About the Committees
The committees also advise the AcSB on managing accounting standards for private enterprises and not-for-profit organizations. This includes providing input on the timing of changes to standards and the process of communicating those changes to interested and affected parties.
Committee members are from across the country. Private Enterprise Advisory Committee and Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee members include preparers, financial statement users, and accounting practitioners involved with private enterprise and not-for-profit financial reporting. Members of the Medium and Small Practitioners Advisory Committee include practitioners from medium and small accounting firms specializing in private enterprise and/or not-for-profit financial reporting.
The committees aim to reflect the broad diversity of private and not-for-profit enterprises in Canada. Members are expected to:
- have knowledge of accounting standards for private enterprises or accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations and their application; or
- regularly review and use private enterprise or not-for-profit financial statements to support decision-making.

About the role
The AcSB is recruiting members to start effective April 1, 2025, for a three-year term.
There will be approximately three to four video conference meetings per year, each two to four hours in length.
There will be at least one full-day, in-person meeting per year that will take place in Toronto.
Members are expected to prepare for and participate in all meetings.Out-of-pocket expenses, including travel costs, will be reimbursed.
