September 16, 2024 News

Are you ready to be at the forefront of IFRS Accounting Standards hot topics? Want to collaborate with experts to address the most pressing accounting issues impacting entities today?

If so, the Accounting Standards Board (AcSB) invites you to join its IFRS Accounting Standards Discussion Group!

About the Group

The Group advises the AcSB on applying IFRS Accounting Standards in Canada. The Group:

  • provides a public forum to discuss current or future IFRS Accounting Standards application issues;
  • suggests issues and topics for the AcSB to bring to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) or the IFRS Interpretations Committee; and
  • advises the AcSB on potential changes to IFRS Accounting Standards.

Group members come from diverse backgrounds, including financial statement preparers and users, academics, and auditors of large to small entities.

Several other individuals participate in meetings, including representatives of the Canadian Securities Administrators, Canadian members serving on the IFRS Interpretations Committee, and the IASB.

What’s in it for you

  • Stay ahead of the curve – share your insights on the development of IFRS Accounting Standards and learn about changes before they impact your business.
  • Be in the know – stay updated on emerging issues like accounting for climate-related risks and new standards such as IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements.
  • Gain new perspectives – broaden your understanding of how IFRS Accounting Standards can impact business decisions.
  • Give back to your profession – share your in-depth knowledge and experience to contribute to Canada’s prominent role in setting international accounting standards.
  • Be a part of a network – build relationships with financial reporting experts from various sectors.

  •  Appointment effective April 1, 2025, for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewing for a second term.
