The AcSB is conducting public outreach to inform exposure draft proposals addressing challenges that private enterprises and not-for-profit organizations face in recognizing intangible assets acquired in a business combination and measuring goodwill. Preparers highlighted complexities and costs in estimating fair values, along with challenges performing goodwill impairment tests. Initial feedback from financial statement users of private enterprises and not-for-profit organizations indicates that the current measurement of goodwill and quantitative information on some intangible assets may not be decision useful.
We want to hear your feedback as we develop proposals aimed at providing relief from recognizing intangible assets acquired in business combinations and allowing entities to amortize goodwill.
Your feedback is crucial to ensuring that the proposals meet the needs of private enterprises and not-for-profit organizations, and result in decision-useful information.
